Winter on Good Ground
We finally thawed enough to do some work on the greenhouse! It created quite a muddy mess in the process, however. Kevin slipped off the ladder at one point, and scraped his leg up. Most of the end wall is done now, though, and we are almost ready to put on the cover; we just need a warm day that's not too windy! Unless we want to go paragliding with our plastic cover...
Planting Has Begun
We have begun to sow some long-growing, cool-loving flowers in flats in our seed starting room, and soon some early lettuces will go into flats, as well! This is an exciting time for any farmer. We hope to share pictures as these seeds sprout and grow!
We still have plenty of CSA spots available. We are considering making a few changes. We have had considerable interest from the Lawrence area: let us know if you'd be interested in a Lawrence drop off! Also, we plan to add a down payment option to the CSA that will allow members to join with a smaller cost up front, and then pay the remainder when the season starts at the first drop off. Let us know if this would be helpful to you.
The average farmer is 60 years old, now. Farming is integral to the survival of any society. No farmers...no food. Don't forget to support your local farms!
